Please join with the Choral Art Society of New Jersey and the choirs of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield in singing Handel's beloved masterpiece "The Messiah" on Sunday afternoon, December 14, 2014, 3:00 P.M. at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, corner of East Broad Street and Mountain Avenue. This annual event is a highlight of the Christmas season enjoyed by singers and listeners alike. Conducting will be Martin A. Sedek, musical director of the Choral Art Society of New Jersey, with Ed Alstrom, organist and choir director of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, at the organ. Soprano and tenor soloists will join the audience in recreating this classic. Bring your own score or borrow one of ours for the occasion. A donation of $10. is requested.

The mysterious Uncle Drosselmeir brings his niece, Clara, a very special gift, a Nutcracker. After the family has gone to bed, Clara sneaks downstairs to see her gift. As the clock chimes twelve, the adventure begins! Clara and the Nutcracker, who is really a prince, journey through the Land of Sweets, battle an army of mice, sail on the Lemonade Sea, rescue the Sugar Plum Fairie and finally reclaim the Prince’s crown from the Dowager Mouse Queen and her inept son. It’s a delicious holiday treat for the entire family! Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Township is where Santa comes up his chimney to wave his magic wand to light the spectacular display of thousands of lights for the Holiday Season. At 5 pm, through December 23, Santa will light the Park and he and Mrs. Claus will be in their chalet to greet children (weather permitting). The display of more than one million lights will be open to visitors through December 30 (weather permitting).

What started as a small display of gingerbread houses has now become an incredible 10-day exhibit of over 200 edible structures. We’ve seen everything from the Notre Dame Cathedral, grand pianos, Chinese pagodas, and Hanukah menorahs to Santa’s workshop, the Eiffel Tower and the Jersey Shore. Over 15,000 guests kick off their holiday celebrations with a visit to this charming and ecumenical exhibit. December 1, Sunday, 5:30pm at the North Ave. Train Station The tree lighting is sponsored by Downtown Westfield Corporation, with hot chocolate, hot cider and entertainment by the Community Band of Westfield. Come greet Santa & Mrs. Claus as they arrive for the annual tree lighting on the fire truck at 5:30pm. Note: A collection box will be available at the Tree Lighting for the Girl Scouts Annual Mitten Tree Project. Franklin Junior Troop #645 will be collecting new mittens, gloves, hats, scarves and socks for needy families throughout New Jersey. Donations will be distributed as gifts during the holiday season to local charities. Join the festivities during Historic Holidays at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township during the afternoons of December 7 and December 8 from Noon to 4 p.m. Experience a 1920s Christmas with the Woods family who lived in the Farmhouse. After a wagon ride to the farm, explore British baking, and decorating traditions. Meet the farm animals, and help with chores.
